Orcs! We are besett by orcs on all sides! Grab your swords, bows and axes and venture across Middle-earth (yet again!) to slay the never-ceasing stream of orcs pouring from the depths. Also, reminisce about Aragorn, a.k.a. Strider, a.k.a. Elessar, a.k.a. Thorongil, a.k.a. The Dank King of Gondor. And to top it all off, have some skirmishes. These adventures await you in year 4 of the anniversary scavenger hunt.
Year 3 is upon us. We have more memories to collect and more places to revisit. Grab your favorite hunter and journey swiftly across Middle-Earth. Or don’t. It’s perfectly fine if you want to wait till all 10 years are released and do them all together. In fact, it’s probably more efficient that way. Either way, here’s your guide to year 3.
I’ve seen a bit of disgruntlement over the high requirements for the Anniversary scavenger hunt. You certainly won’t be able complete every single hunt quest, but you can, at least, as of “year two”, complete one of each set. This guide is a reduced version of the full hunter path guide and assumes you have a helpful hunter friend with all of the Eriador ports.
Face it. The scavenger hunt was made for hunters. It even has half of the class’ name in its title. But even with a hunter, you’ll still be running around Middle-earth like a chicken without its head. From henceforth, the scavenger hunt will unofficially be known as the “Befriend a hunter” festival.
This guide seeks to minimize the redundancy in travelling by focusing on one quest from each “year” to unlock the next set, picking up locations as you go along. I expect to update this guide as each new “year” is released, but poke me if I don’t get around to it.
No time for fancy introduction text. Let’s jump right into “year two” of the scavenger hunt guide. I can’t promise you won’t be wasting your time with this event, but at least you’ll know how you’re wasting it.
This year marks the Lord of the Rings Online’s tenth anniversary, an arbitrary number, but quite an accomplishments considering that most MMOs don’t last as long. The developers decided to put together a scavenger hunt for players to reminisce about the good old days of LOTRO and its story in a similar episodic style to the Bingo Boffin quests. Each week a new set of quests unlocks and new rewards to boot. The event is scheduled to last until July 13 at which point the event will likely disappear foreverreturn next year!
